My Current Sacred Feminine Morning Routine

I believe that one of the most powerful things you can do to enhance your intuition, improve your connection to the Spirit World, and deepen your sense of purpose and power in your life is to develop a sacred morning routine.

In preparation for the emergence of Spring over the past few weeks, I’ve become extremely devoted to prioritizing and refining my Sacred Start, a term and practice I learned from the wonderful Sarah Jenks.

To be honest, I’d forgotten just how utterly powerful it is when I devote myself to my spiritual connection first thing in the morning.

I’d forgotten how completely different every aspect of my life is when I prime myself with the Sacred rather than going straight for my phone to see what stressors and updates await.

Whenever I prioritize my Sacred Feminine Morning Routine, I move through the rest of my day with more peace, trust, flow, and resilience.

And when I don’t, everything feels so much harder.

So today, in celebration of Ostara and the Spring Equinox, I’d like to share with you the current iteration of my Sacred Feminine Morning Routine in the hopes that it might inspire you to start or refine your own.

It should be said that I am a big believer that routines and practices such as this can and should ebb and flow to meet the ever changing challenges and demands of our current lives. So, while this is the structure that is working for me right now, I fully expect it to change come Summer and beyond.

The Supplies & Preparation

My routine begins in the kitchen, preparing a mug of green tea with lemon and stevia. I’m a big collector of mugs, because I love enjoying my warm beverages from something that reminds me of a special time, place, or memory.

Lately I’ve been using a big brown Owl mug I got from the San Diego Safari Park last summer when my husband and I went with some friends. It was one of the most enjoyable days of my whole life and I love remembering it.

As I wait for the tea to brew, I gather the rest of the items I need including my meditation cushion, my journals, essential oils, and the current cards I’m working with and set them on the floor of our bedroom in front of our big window that looks onto our deck.

I also warm an herbal heat pack in the microwave, because I enjoy having something warm against my belly while I’m in this practice.

Once the tea is ready, we begin…

Step 1: Feminine Flow

I have had an on-again/off-again relationship with my Feminine Flow Embodiment Practice, but I have recently felt called back to it and have found it’s a beautiful way to start this morning ritual.

I learned this technique from Anna Rova, but the technique originates with embodiment expert Jenna Ward.

Unlike traditional meditation techniques that require us to sit still, the Feminine Flow is meditative in nature but it happens through movement.

It’s dance-like, but it’s not a dance. There is no choreography and there are no “rules.”

Instead, it’s about listening to your body and letting the thoughts, feelings, and sensations move through you. It’s all about moving to music to help release frozen tension and deepen your connection to your body.

My experience has been that once I move past the resistance to doing it, it’s an incredibly powerful way to work through things that feel “stuck” instead of trying to process it all in my head. Oftentimes I find that the release doesn’t actually come during the practice, but afterwards.

My current favorite songs to flow to are Waterfall and Eastern Sun, both by Ayla Nereo.

Once I’ve flowed to a song or two and feel like I’ve shed any excess energy or anxiety, I move over to my meditation cushion and get out my oils.

Step 2: Anointing

The two oils I’ve been working with recently are doTERRA’s Frankincense and Balance.

Frankincense is known as the King of Oils because it has so many uses and it is also an extremely ancient, precious, and high-vibration oil.

I love working with Frankincense in my spiritual practice precisely because it has such an ancient lineage and was used in temples throughout the ancient world. It’s earthy, grounding, anti-inflammatory, and will take you straight back to past lives if you let it.

Balance is one of my favorite oil blends because it so quickly calms the nervous system.

It’s a blue colored oil thanks to the Blue Tansy and contains several tree oils in addition to some Frankincense. It is extremely calming and centering and I use it multiple times throughout the day.

I should also note that I only ever use doTERRA oils because of their commitment to quality and sustainability. Not all essential oils are made equal, so be sure that you get yours from a reputable source!

Step 3: Empty Presence

After I’ve applied my oils to my chest and the bottoms of my feet, I turn on a frequency “song,” and start to practice Empty Presence.

(For the frequency music, I’m currently appreciating the ones from Sound Energy Alchemist on YouTube.)

Empty Presence is a skill taught in the 13 Moon Mystery School lineage and is something I learned through Sarah Jenks and Elaine Kalila Doughty. This skill is all about emptying yourself out of any thoughts, beliefs, emotions, etc. that are taking up space and making room for the Divine to come through. At least this is how I interpret it.

My personal practice involves imagining all of this energy draining out through my root chakra into the Earth, ready to pick up when I’m done, if I still want it that is.

I then sit in silence and wait for whatever wants to come through.

Some days I might bring a question to this space and ask for guidance, other days I might invite my Spirit Guides to share with me anything they want me to know.

Sometimes I sit and nothing happens. And I let that be okay.

Other times I sit and wild things happen. I have visions, I channel, I get downloads and wisdom that is beyond anything I could rationally think of.

What happens in Empty Presence really dictates the rest of my practice.

This could mean journaling, doing a guided Soul or Shamanic Journey, or pulling cards. I really let the Goddess tell me what’s next.

Step 4: Pulling Cards

I absolutely love working with card decks and I have several that I love and rotate through as I see fit.

My three current favorite decks are the Wild Unknown Archetype Deck, the Candle in the Cave Tarot (although this is no longer available, Anette’s Femme Folk Oracle Deck is and it’s beautiful), and the Super Attractor deck.

Somedays I just pull cards from one, other times I pull from two or even all three, it just depends.

I always let myself be led to the deck and try to have clarity on what I’m asking. I find that when I ask from a place of strength, humility, and clarity, I get better answers than when I dip into anxious/helpless, graspy, clingy energy.

For me, cards are simply one tool to connect with my higher self, Spirit Guides, and the Unseen. I don’t take them as prophetic necessarily and I am careful to come to them with clean energy, otherwise it muddles the reading.

I also don’t ask about other people, because I don’t believe that energetically we have a right to fully understanding/accessing someone else’s deepest truth or experience without their permission.

If I need guidance about a relationship or situation involving others, I always frame it from my own perspective and what I need to know, understand, or do next.

Step 5: Thank My Guides and Wrap Up

Once I feel complete, I end my practice by thanking the Goddess, my Spirit Guides, and any other sources of wisdom that came through and I close my practice.

I believe that cultivating a spiritual connection means that we treat our guides with deep respect and reverence. This means both welcoming them in and thanking them for their guidance.

For me, this entire ritual takes anywhere from 40 minutes to an hour and a half depending on what I need that day.

Again, I know this will change depending on the season of life I’m in. Two years ago my morning routine looked entirely different, because it happened in about ten minutes at 5:30 am. Now, I have some time to be more leisurely but this won’t always be the case.

I hope you all enjoyed getting a sneak peek into my personal Sacred Feminine Morning Routine and hope it has inspired you to start your own or try a new practice or two xx
